The console is where you run your business day to day. It has a rail down the left of the screen, a bar across the top with one search on every screen and your name at the right, and a way to ask Bizzly to make a change for you. On a phone the rail becomes a row of tabs along the foot of the screen. This article is a map. Each part has its own article, linked as we go.
Where to Find This
Sign in and open Home, the first item in the rail. It is the screen the console opens on.
The Rail
On a laptop the rail runs down the left of every screen. From the top:
- The business button. It shows your business's initials in a plain disc, its name and its web address. Press it to open the rows of your business settings in a sheet. See Settings and Team below.
- Home, Bookings, Customers, What you sell, Website and Money, the screens you work in. Customers uses your business's own word for the people who pay you: a kids club sees Parents there. This article says Customers throughout.
- Team and Settings, standing apart under a gap.
- Ask or tell Bizzly, a card standing alone at the foot of the rail, for administrators. It has a line under it, "Ask a question, or say “Change the price to £45”", with the price in the currency you sell in. A rail folded to its icons shows the card as its small spark mark alone.
The item you are on is filled in blue. A number beside Home counts the things that need you (a rail folded to its icons, on a narrower window, has no room for the number; the phone's Home tab shows it).
On a narrower window, such as a tablet, the rail folds to icons alone. Hold the pointer over an icon to see its name.
On a Phone
A phone has no rail. Along the foot of the screen is a row of tabs: Home, Bookings, Customers, Money and More. More opens a sheet that lists What you sell, Website, Team and Settings, then Ask or tell Bizzly for administrators. Below those, in a group of their own, it lists Bizzly's site, Help and, once you have made a choice about cookies, Cookies. If you have not yet chosen a plan, the group also holds Sign out, because Settings is not there to sign out from.
The Bar Across the Top
On a laptop or tablet, a bar runs across the top of every screen, above the rail. From the left it holds:
- Bizzly, which takes you back to Bizzly's own site. Over a rail folded to its icons it shows as the first letter alone.
- The search, the one search field of the console, in the middle. It says Search customers, bookings, services, settings until you type, using your business's own words (a kids club sees Search parents, bookings, sessions, settings).
- You, at the right: your initials, your name with your role under it, and a small arrow. The role is Administrator, Platform admin, or the name your business gave the role (the default role is called Staff until you rename it, and the bar says Team while the name is still being read). Press it to open a menu of Your account, Help, Cookies (once you have made a choice about cookies, so you can change it) and Sign out.
On a phone there is no bar across the top. The screen's own bar at the top carries its title, the search as a magnifying glass, the circular arrow and the filled button, and More holds Help and Cookies.
Each Screen's Heading
Under that bar, every screen opens with its title as a heading at the top of the white sheet, with a line under it that says what the screen is for. On Home the heading is your greeting, because your business name is on the business button in the rail. At the right of the heading are a circular arrow that reads the screen again (named for the screen, such as Refresh bookings) and the screen's one filled button. A screen you reach from another, such as a day or a session, also has a back arrow before its title.
Settings has no button, because it has nothing to add. A button appears only if your role may do what it does. While you are selecting rows on Bookings or Customers, the button steps aside until you stop selecting. On a phone the button shows as its plus mark alone.
The New Menu
On Home, New opens a short menu with the things your role may make: Booking, Customer, Service, Programme, Plan or pack, Product and Payment link. Customer, Service and Programme are in your business's own words, so a kids' club sees Parent, Session and Camp. Service has a tag beside it and Programme a tent. On a laptop it drops down under the button. On a phone it rises from the foot of the screen. Choose one and it opens on the screen it belongs to. For example, Booking opens the new booking form on Bookings, and Service or Programme opens the three steps that add one on What you sell. On What you sell, Add is the same menu cut down to Service, Programme, Plan or pack and Product.
When Your Window Is Narrow
The console fits itself to the room it has, and a few things behave the same on every screen.
- Tabs slide sideways. A row of tabs, such as Payments and Payment links on Money, the lists on What you sell, or Booked and Waiting on a session, never wraps onto a second line or makes the page wider. When the tabs do not all fit, the row slides sideways inside itself, and the tab you chose is brought into view.
- Long names wrap. On a day's venue and service filters, a long name takes a second line instead of running into its neighbour. See Your Day, Week and Month.
- Buttons drop under the words on a phone. On Home, a Needs you row's button sits under its words on a phone and beside them on a laptop.
- Pictures keep the names in line. On What you sell, a list in which any class, camp or product has a picture gives every row room for one, so the names stay in line. A row without a picture shows a small mark in its place.
Settings and Team
The things that belong to the whole business, rather than to one screen, are on Team and Settings. On a laptop they are at the foot of the rail. On a phone, open More.
Team is where you invite the people who help you and choose what each of them can do. It is for administrators. See Managing Your Team.
Settings is one screen in three parts, with the line "Your business, what it is connected to, your plan and your own account." under its title. The business button at the top of the rail opens the same rows in a sheet named for your business.
Sign out is at the foot of the screen, apart from the rows.
If you run more than one website, Your business also asks Which site are you working on? and lists them. If you belong to more than one business, it asks Which account are you using?. Each question appears only when there is something to choose between, and a long list pages with Previous and Next.
If you are a Bizzly platform administrator, Platform admin also sits under Bizzly, with a way to support another business. A row that takes you out of the console carries a small arrow pointing out.
Your Business's Own Words
The console speaks your business's language. Once your page is built, the launch pack you started from decides which words it uses for what you sell and for the people who pay you. Until then it uses plain words such as Services and customers. The layout, the tabs and the buttons are the same whatever the words.
A club set up before the industry was recorded, with children as its profiles, keeps the kids club words. The articles in this help centre usually say "class", "session" and "customers" and add your word where it matters.
Search
The search field in the bar across the top of every screen (a magnifying glass on a phone) finds people, bookings, payments, classes, plans, venues, products, pages and settings, and takes you straight to them. Press Ctrl K (Command K on a Mac) to jump into it from anywhere. You can find a person by a first name or a phone number, and a payment from this week by the amount. See Searching Your Console.
Ask or Tell Bizzly
Administrators can ask Bizzly how something works, or ask it to change prices, times, closures and more, by typing in plain words. A question is answered briefly, in a few plain sentences from the help articles, and the answer normally ends with a link to the article that answers it. If Bizzly cannot find one, it says so. On a laptop or tablet the Ask or tell Bizzly card is at the foot of the rail, with a line under it that invites a question or a change. On Home there is also an Ask or tell Bizzly button under Do something. On a phone it is in More, and most screens end with an Ask or tell Bizzly row. See Ask or Tell Bizzly.
How Changes Work
Changes open in a panel called a sheet. On a wide screen (about 1,100 pixels or more) a sheet that belongs to a screen opens beside the list you were looking at. The list stays, and the row you opened is marked. On a narrower window it opens over the right-hand edge of the screen, and on a phone it fills the screen, with a Back button at its top. The sheets that belong to the whole console, such as Your plan and Ask or tell Bizzly, and anything you open from the rail's business button or from the menu under your name, such as Your account or Help, always open over the screen. The button at the foot of a sheet makes the change as soon as you press it, and a message at the bottom of the screen usually offers Undo. See How Changes Work.
What You See Depends on Your Role
Administrators see every item in the rail. A team member with a limited role sees only the screens their role allows, and a screen they cannot open is left out of their rail. Home is always listed, and Settings is open to everyone.
- Bookings needs the bookings permission.
- Customers opens for a role that can see customers, bookings or the session register.
- What you sell is for administrators, and for a role that can see the shop.
- Website opens for a role that can see the website, search settings, the shop or reviews.
- Money opens for a role that can see payment links or the shop's orders.
- Team is for administrators only.
If they follow a link to a screen they cannot open, they see This part is for administrators. with a button, such as Back to Home, that takes them back to the first screen they can use. If Home is closed to a role, the console opens on the first screen that role can use instead.
Before You Have Chosen a Plan
If you have signed up but not yet chosen a plan, the rail holds Home alone, and on a phone the tabs are Home and More. Home shows one card, Choose a plan to start your free trial, with a Choose a plan button. Any other screen you try to open brings you back to Home. The business button at the top of the rail still opens your business sheet, where you can Sign out. Once you have a plan and no business yet, the console opens on the guided setup instead. See Create Your Account & Choose a Plan.
To change what someone can see, see Managing Your Team.
When a Job Opens a Screen of Its Own
Two jobs open a screen of their own instead of a sheet.
- The guided setup. Until your business can take bookings, the Ready to take bookings when card on Home has a button, Create your site or Continue setup, that leads to it. The setup runs as screens of its own: What do you do?, Set it up, Go live and Share your page. They do not show the rail or the search. One slim bar across the top holds Bizzly, a link to Bizzly's site, and Sign out. See Setting Up Your Business.
- The full page editor. Press Open the editor at the right of the Website heading. The editor fills the whole screen, so the rail and the bar across the top are not shown. One slim bar across the top holds Back to Website and your business name. See Website Editor Overview. On a phone, the rows that lead to it say Best on a larger screen.
Lines Across the Top
Two lines can stand across the very top of the console, above the rail and the screen.
- A deletion that is waiting. If you have asked for your account to be deleted, a line tells you the date it will happen and that nothing is removed until then. Choose Open your account on the line, then Cancel deletion, any time before that date.
- A support session. If you are a Bizzly platform administrator acting as a business, a red line says Viewing as the business's name, the reason for the visit and that everything you do is logged. Exit ends the session.
Getting Back to Bizzly's Site
On a laptop or tablet, press Bizzly at the left of the bar across the top. On a phone, open More and press Bizzly's site.
Type what you are looking for into the search. It shows where each result lives, for example Website › Name and tagline, and opens it for you.
