The Website screen shows your home page the way a customer sees it, with a button over each part you can change. Beside the page are rows for everything else about your website: its colour, logo and fonts, its name and tagline, its pages, what customers receive, its web address, how Google shows it and the reviews on it. A bar above the page says whether your site is live. This article is a map of the screen. Each part has its own article, linked as we go.
Where to Find This
Open Website in your console. On a laptop it sits in the rail between What you sell and Money. On a phone, open More, then press Website. The filled button at the right of the heading is Open the editor, which opens the full page editor.
The circular arrow at the right of the heading (Refresh website) reads the screen again and draws the page again, and a short message, Website updated, confirms it. The screen also reads itself again after every change you make. If the website cannot be read, a message says why, or Your website could not be loaded. when there is no more to say, with a Retry button. If a refresh fails after the page has loaded, it says Your website could not be refreshed.
Your Home Page, as Customers See It
The Site Bar
The site bar, above the page, tells you about your website at a glance. From the left it shows:
- a dot and a word for where your website stands: Live, Live, payment overdue, Suspended, Switched off, Draft or Archived. When it is anything but live, a sentence under the bar says why, for example "Your website is showing a maintenance message because a payment is overdue. Update your payment method to bring it back."
- your website's address
- when it last changed, such as Changed Monday 26 October. This is the day any of your pages was last changed
- the Laptop and Phone switch, explained below
- View site, which opens your real website in a tab of its own
The bar is never more than two rows. When the column is narrow, on a phone and also on a laptop with a sheet open beside the page, the switch and View site share a row of their own under the address. On a phone the switch shrinks to leave View site room to stay on one line.
The Page
Under the bar, a line says "Tap a part of the page to change it." and below it is your home page, drawn in a browser window with your website's address along its top edge. It is drawn in your own colours, with your header and footer. On a laptop it is drawn in a tall window, so more of your home page shows at once. If there is no part of the page your role may change, the line reads "Your home page, as customers see it." instead, or, while a page from Pages is open, "Your" and the page's name, then " page, as customers see it", such as "Your Contact page, as customers see it."
The page drawn follows the page whose pane is open. Open a page from Pages and the drawing shows that page. Close the pane and your home page is drawn again. While a page is being read, the drawing says Loading your page.
The page is for looking at. Nothing in it can be pressed except the buttons over it that change it, so a link in the preview does not take you away from the console and a booking button does not book anything. Your booking calendar is shown as a box reading Your booking calendar, with the line "Customers choose a session here. It runs on your live site, so it is not drawn in this preview."
If the page cannot be drawn, the console shows your live website in a phone-sized frame instead. A website on its own domain cannot be framed, so you see the note Your website is on your own domain, so it opens in a tab of its own. and use View site to see it. If your website has no address yet, the note says so, and if it cannot be read it says Your website could not be shown.
On a phone the rows come first, and the page is a strip headed Your page with the words "tap a part of it to change it" and a Show button. Press Show to draw the page, and Hide to put it away again.
Laptop and Phone
The switch in the site bar has two views. Laptop draws your home page at a laptop's width, made smaller to fit if it has to be, and Phone draws it at a phone's width. On a laptop the page starts on Laptop, and on a phone it starts on Phone.
The view you choose last is remembered in that browser, so the page opens in the view you used last, and it stays when you make a change or press Refresh website. A private browsing window may not remember it, and then the page starts on its usual view each time.
On a phone-sized screen the preview shows only the top of your page. Press View site to see the rest.
Tap a Part of the Page to Change It
Over the page, a button named for what it changes stands on each part you can change, with a ring round the part. Press one and the sheet for that part opens, as described under When You Open a Row below. See also How Changes Work.
Change prices and Change times open the same sheets as the rows on the What you sell screen. See The What You Sell Screen.
The header buttons appear only when your website has a shared header. A site whose header belongs to a single page has none, because the sheets cannot change it. Your role decides which buttons you see: the five buttons in the table appear only over a part you may change.
Other parts of the page have a button too. It says Edit and the name of the part, such as Edit Footer, Edit Shop, Edit Reviews, Edit Contact form, Edit Map or Edit Call to action, or Edit this part when the part has no name. It opens the full page editor with that part already selected. These buttons are for roles that may look at the website, and they are not drawn on a phone.
The Rows Beside the Page
On a wide laptop window the rows stand in a column beside the page. While a sheet is open, the page and the rows stand one above the other to make room for it. On a phone the rows come first, above the page strip.
The rows are in groups, each under a small heading. Each row says in a line what it holds now. A small label appears beside a row only when something needs you: an address that is still being connected or that failed, or reviews waiting for you.
If a row cannot read its figures, it says Could not load.
The Web Address Row
Under Web address the row is named for your address itself, such as www.yourclub.co.uk, or your Bizzly address if you have no domain of your own. Under it:
- Your Bizzly address for an address Bizzly gives you, which always works
- for a domain of your own, Your main address or Not your main address yet, with a count such as "Your main address, 2 domains of your own" once you have more than one
- until a domain of your own is working, its state: Awaiting DNS, DNS verified, Issuing certificate, Validation failed, Re-validation required, Removing or Removal failed
A small label, Waiting or Failed, stands beside the address while it is being connected or if it could not be. A working address has no label. The row opens the Web address sheet, where you add a domain, copy the two records it needs, make an address your main one and choose whether visitors are sent on to it. Only administrators can open it. If your plan does not include a domain of your own, the row says Not in your plan, with a card under it headed Not in your plan yet and a See plans button.
The Show on Google and Reviews Rows
Show on Google says whether your search listing is on or off, followed by a note that linking your Google Business Profile is coming soon: Search listing on, Google Business Profile coming soon or Search listing off, Google Business Profile coming soon. Linking a Google Business Profile from the console is not available yet. When Bizzly can tell, a second line says Counting your visitors, Counting your visitors is switched off or Not counting your visitors yet. Reviews wears a small Waiting label when reviews are waiting for your decision.
The Tools Group
The last group holds The full page editor. When the last change to your website was made on this screen and your role may take it back, Undo a change stands first in this group, with the change named under it, such as "Last: The look of your website". Press it and a sheet puts that change back. See How Changes Work.
When You Open a Row
A row opens its sheet in a column beside the screen on a wide laptop window, over the right edge of the screen on a narrower window, and across the whole screen on a phone, where a Back button takes you out. The row you opened is marked while its sheet is open, so pressing another row swaps what the sheet shows.
Nothing is changed until you press the sheet's button, and there is no step called Publish. A sheet with something to fill in says Saved at its top while nothing is waiting. As soon as you change something, a foot appears at the bottom of the sheet with the button that makes the change, such as Use this colour or Save, and Cancel, which closes the sheet without making it. Press the button and the change is made at once, and a message says what changed. Where the change can be put back, the message has an Undo button.
The Full Page Editor Row
Press The full page editor, or Open the editor at the right of the heading, to open the full page editor, where you can move blocks about, add pages, change fonts and style every element. It opens on a screen of its own, because it needs all the room there is. The rail and the bar across the top are not shown, and one slim bar holds Back to Website and your business name. Pressing Back to Website saves your page first. It works best on a tablet, laptop or desktop. On a phone the row says Best on a larger screen and does not open the editor. If your business has not finished its guided setup, the editor shows a card headed Finish setting up first with a Continue setup button instead.
What You See Depends on Your Role
Changing the website is for people whose role allows it. The address and where your emails come from are for administrators. What Google is told about your business needs permission to change it. Answering reviews needs permission to change reviews, and looking at them needs permission to read them. A group or row that your role cannot use is left out, or it stays as plain words with nothing to press. If your role may look at the website but not change it, Colour, logo and fonts, Name and tagline and Pages lead to the full page editor, where you can look but not save. What customers receive opens its list for any role that may look at the website. If your role may only look at what Google is told, Show on Google opens its sheets with every box held and a note that says so. Open the editor is shown to roles that may look at the website. If your role does not include the website at all, the screen says Your role does not include the website.
If your business has no website yet, an administrator sees a card headed Create your first site with a Create your site button. Everyone else sees "Your business has no website yet. An administrator can create it."
Ask Bizzly Instead
Administrators can use Ask or tell Bizzly to type a change in their own words. Other roles do not see it. On a phone it is a row at the foot of the screen. On a laptop or tablet it is a card at the foot of the rail. See Ask or Tell Bizzly.
Press Colour, logo and fonts to give your site your colour and logo, then Name and tagline to check your business name and the line under your headline. Your colour shows on the page beside the sheet as you pick it.
