Title: Building Pages with the AI Assistant
Category: website-editor
The AI assistant lets you build and change a page by describing it in plain English. You type what you want, and the assistant adds, removes, and restyles sections right on the canvas so you can see the result and decide whether to keep it.
Where to Find This
- Go to Services → Website Editor tab.
- Open the page you want to work on.
- In the toolbar down the left edge of the editor, click the AI tab (the sparkle icon). The AI panel opens with the heading AI.
What It Does
The assistant works on whichever page you currently have open. It greets you in one of two ways depending on the page:
- A new or empty page – it offers to build the page from scratch: "Describe the page you want and I'll build it."
- A page that already has content – it offers to change what's there: "Tell me how to change this page."
Either way, the assistant makes its changes directly on the canvas in front of you. Nothing is saved until you save the page yourself, so you're always free to undo or walk away.
Building a New Page
-
In the message box at the bottom of the panel, describe the page you want. Be specific about the sections you need. For example:
"A landing page with a hero, three feature cards, testimonials, and a contact form."
-
Press Enter (or click the send button) to send your description. Press Shift+Enter if you want a line break instead of sending.
-
The assistant thinks for a moment, then builds the sections onto your page. When it finishes, you'll see a short note such as "Applied 5 changes. Review in the editor and save when ready."
-
Review the result on the canvas.
Refining a Page
You can keep the conversation going to fine-tune the page. Type each change as a new message, for example:
- "Add a testimonials section after the features."
- "Make the hero dark and change the headline."
The assistant edits the page in place and tells you how many changes it applied. If it can't make a change, it says so — try rewording your request and send it again.
You'll get the best results by making focused requests. Build the overall page first, then adjust individual sections one message at a time.
Saving Your Work
The assistant never saves on your behalf. Once you're happy with the page:
- Review everything on the canvas.
- Save the page as you normally would. The editor's auto-save also keeps your work, and you can use Undo in the header to reverse anything you don't want.
Before a big rebuild, create a snapshot from the editor header so you can restore the page if you change your mind. See Using Snapshots.
If You Reach the AI Limit
Building or refining a page uses your plan's monthly AI generations. If you run out, the panel shows an AI limit reached message with an Upgrade plan button. You can upgrade for more generations, or wait for your allowance to reset at the start of your next billing period. The rest of the editor keeps working as normal.
For how the allowance works across all the AI assistants, see Usage Limits.
