Adding Your Custom Domain

Replace your platform subdomain with your own professional domain name.

Services → Website → Custom Domain → Web Domain sub-tab

The Custom Domain page has two sub-tabs, Web Domain and Email Domain. Everything in this article happens on Web Domain, which is the one that opens by default.

What You'll Need

• A Pro plan subscription
• A domain you own
• Access to your domain's DNS settings

Steps

1. Go to Domain Configuration

Navigate to Services → Website → Custom Domain, and stay on the Web Domain sub-tab.

2. Enter Your Domain

In the Domain Name field, enter your custom domain. This must be a subdomain — root (apex) domains like yourbusiness.com on its own aren't supported, since they need a different kind of DNS record than Bizzly's setup provides. Use www or another subdomain instead. Type a plain .com root domain and the field refuses it straight away and tells you to use a subdomain; some other root domains (.co.uk, .com.au and similar) slip past that check but still won't validate, so if a root domain is your only option, contact support rather than working around it.

Examples:

• booking.yourbusiness.com (subdomain)
• www.yourbusiness.com (www subdomain)
• yourbusiness.com — not supported; contact support if this is your only option

Type the domain on its own — no https://, no trailing slash and no spaces, or the field will tell you it doesn't look like a domain name.

3. Click Set Custom Domain

Click the Set Custom Domain button below the field. Nothing appears until you do this — typing the domain alone doesn't produce your DNS records.

A message reads "Configuring custom domain with Azure Front Door. This may take up to 2 minutes…" while it works, then you'll see "✓ Domain configured! Please add the DNS records shown below."

4. Copy Your DNS Records

A DNS Configuration Required box now shows the two records you need to add at your registrar:

Copy the Name and Value for each one exactly as shown. The Domain Name field is locked from this point, so you can't accidentally change the domain the records were made for.

5. Add Records to Your DNS

Log into your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap) and add both records. The two records use different styles of name, so follow Configuring Your DNS Records rather than guessing.

6. Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS changes can take up to 60 minutes to propagate across the internet. This is normal.

7. Verify Your Domain

Return to the Web Domain sub-tab and click Verify DNS Configuration. If verification succeeds, your SSL certificate will be provisioned automatically, which may take 15-30 minutes.

As things progress, the Web Domain sub-tab shows one of these headings:

Removing a Domain

To remove your custom domain:

1. Go to Services → Website → Custom Domain → Web Domain
2. Click Remove Custom Domain (or Remove and Start Over if verification failed)
3. Confirm when asked "Remove custom domain and revert to wildcard subdomain?"

Removal runs in the background and typically takes 5-10 minutes, showing Removing Custom Domain while it works. You can navigate away and come back — refresh the page to see where it's got to. Your site keeps working on its platform subdomain throughout.

If it doesn't finish, you'll see Domain Removal Failed with the reason and a Try Again button.

Note: If you have an email domain set up, you'll need to remove that first.

Troubleshooting

No DNS records showing?

• You need to click Set Custom Domain first — entering the domain on its own doesn't generate them

Verification failing?

• Double-check DNS records are exactly as shown, especially the TXT record's name
• Wait the full 60 minutes for propagation
• Some registrars are slower - wait up to 24 hours

SSL not provisioning?

• Verify DNS is correct
• Wait up to 30 minutes after verification
• Contact support if it takes longer

Want to change domains? Remove the current domain first, then add the new one.
