Home is the first item in your console and the screen it opens on. It shows your day, and anything that needs you, on one page. Many of the lines lead on to the screen behind them.
Where to Find This
Open Home, the first item in the rail down the left of the screen (or the first tab along the foot of a phone). A number beside it counts the things that need you (a rail folded to its icons, on a narrower window, has no room for the number). On a laptop the heading at the top of the screen is your greeting, and your business name is on the business button at the top of the rail. On a phone the bar at the top says your business name.
What You See
From the top of the screen down:
- A greeting and one line under it
- Your first booking (only for the week after your business's first booking)
- Finish telling us what you do (only if you stopped part way through the first setup screen)
- Your booking setup is ready to create or Your setup is drafted (only if a launch pack's setup is waiting)
- Your page is not published yet (only for a landing page that is not published)
- Ready to take bookings when (only until your business can take bookings)
- Needs you
- Do something
- Today, or a card for your first customer
- This week
You never see all of these at once. Most days it is the greeting, Needs you, Do something, Today and This week. It is one column on every screen size. A phone shows the same sections, with each row's button under its words.
To read the screen again, press the circular arrow (Refresh today) at the right of the heading. A short message, Today updated, confirms it. Home also reads itself again after a change made through Ask or tell Bizzly, and after you deal with something in Needs you, so you rarely need it.
At the right of the heading, New opens a menu of the things you can make. See Your Console at a Glance.
The Greeting and Your Website
The screen opens with a greeting, such as Good morning, Scott. On a laptop it is the screen's heading. It says Good morning until noon, Good afternoon from noon and Good evening from six in the evening, on the clock where your sessions run.
Under it is one line of what is true now, with the parts divided by dots:
- the day, in words, such as Thursday 15 October
- your website's state, a coloured dot with its words. It can be Live, Live, payment overdue, Suspended, Switched off, Draft or Archived. A live website whose business cannot take bookings yet says Not live yet and the one thing it is waiting on, such as Not live yet: payments. Press it to open the Website screen
- what is on today, such as 3 sessions today or No sessions today
- how many things need you, such as 4 things need you or nothing needs you
When your website's state is Live, payment overdue, Suspended, Switched off, Draft or Archived, a sentence under the line says why.
A landing page has no sessions to count, so its line leaves that part out. Its website's state says Live once the page is published, and Not live yet until then.
Your First Booking
For the week after your business's first booking, a card headed Your first booking stands at the top of Home, above everything else. It says who booked and what, for example "Sam booked Under 7s for Saturday 17 October, 10:00." The customer is named by first name only, or A customer when there is none. The date and time are left out if Bizzly cannot tell what clock your venue keeps. Open Bookings takes you to Bookings. A team member whose role cannot open Bookings sees the sentence without the button.
You are emailed about it too, once, with the subject Your first booking and an Open Bookings button. The email goes to every active administrator of the business.
After the week the card goes. A booking that was cancelled still counts as the first.
Ready to Take Bookings When
Until your business can take bookings, a card headed Ready to take bookings when lists what is left, one step to a line:
- Your website is live
- Stripe is connected
- A calendar is set up
- You have something to sell
- A price is set
- Sessions are on the calendar
Every step has a small mark in the same place at the left: a tick for a step that is done, an open circle for one still to do. The first step still to do has the card's one button. Any other steps still to do are plain lines, so you always know what is next and are never faced with a row of buttons.
The last three steps appear only until your first booking. Once someone has booked, Bizzly knows your business works, and it judges you on the first three steps alone.
Press Refresh today after you finish a step. When every step is done, the card goes. If Bizzly cannot tell whether a step is done, it leaves that step off the card rather than guess, and if it cannot tell whether you are ready at all, it shows no card.
A landing page takes enquiries, not bookings, so it needs no Stripe account or calendar and Home draws no Ready to take bookings when card for it. What a landing page sees is described under If Your Site Is a Landing Page below.
Team members with a limited role do not see Ready to take bookings when or Your booking setup is ready to create. They see the rest of Home that their role allows.
Finish Telling Us What You Do
If you began the first setup screen, said what you do, and stopped before your setup was drafted, an administrator sees a card headed Finish telling us what you do. It says "Your business is made, but its setup is not drafted yet. Say what you do again and we will draft it." Carry on takes you back to the first setup screen, where what you said is waiting. The card goes once the setup is drafted, and when your business can take bookings.
Your Booking Setup Is Ready to Create
A launch pack comes with a whole booking setup: what you sell, plans, venues, times and closures. If you chose a launch pack and its setup was never created, Home keeps it for you. Above the other sections, an administrator sees a card headed Your booking setup is ready to create. It says "Creating it sets up what you sell, your venues, times and closures from the launch pack you chose. You can change all of it afterwards." It then lists what will be made, one step to a line. After the first eight it says, for example, and 3 more.
- Create my booking setup makes it. If creating it would also take something away, you are asked first. The question is Create it and take these away?, it lists what goes, and its buttons are Create it and Not yet. When it is done, a message says Your booking setup is created and the card goes.
- If the setup stops part of the way, the card says so. Press Create my booking setup again to carry on. What was already made is picked up, not made twice.
- If the pack cannot be created as it stands, the card says "Your launch pack needs attention before it can be created:" followed by the reasons, and has no Create my booking setup button.
- Discard, apart at the foot of the card, throws the setup away. It asks Discard your booking setup? and says "Nothing from your launch pack will be created. You can still add what you sell and your times by hand afterwards." Type delete and press Discard it, or press Keep it.
If you said what you do on the first setup screen, your setup was drafted from it, and the card is headed Your setup is drafted instead. It does not create the setup itself, because you look it over first. Its buttons are:
- Set it up opens the Set it up screen, where you look the draft over and say what to change.
- Go live opens the Go live screen, where you connect your bank and your calendar and Bizzly builds your page from your setup.
- Change what you said (only when the draft came from your own words) goes back to the first setup screen.
- Discard, as above.
Under the heading, the card says one of three things, depending on what happened to the words you gave on the first setup screen:
- If your words were used to draft the setup: "Your setup is drafted from what you said. Look it over, say what to change, and go live when it is right."
- If Bizzly could not work out a setup from your words: "Bizzly could not work out your setup from what you said, so this is your launch pack as it comes. Open Set it up to answer and say what to change."
- If your words are on record but nothing says whether they were used: "Your launch pack is drafted for you. Look it over, say what to change, and go live when it is right."
Set it up and Go live appear only when the drafted setup can go ahead. If the launch pack needs attention, the card shows "Your launch pack needs attention before it can be created:" followed by the reasons, with no Set it up or Go live. Discard stays, and so does Change what you said if the draft came from your own words.
Only administrators see these cards, and only until your business can take bookings. Most businesses never see them, because they are drawn only when a launch pack is waiting. If it cannot be read, Home shows nothing in its place.
Needs You
Needs you lists the things waiting on you, most urgent first. A number beside the heading says how many kinds of thing are waiting. Each kind is one row with:
- a sentence saying what it is, such as "40 customers have a failed payment"
- a line under it saying what to do about it
- one filled button at the right (under the words on a phone) that does it
The first five kinds are shown. At the right of the heading, See all 6 (when there are more than five kinds) or See the details opens the Needs you sheet, which lists each person, order or review behind the rows, starting with the most urgent kind. A row whose button opens the sheet (See who, See the orders, Read them) opens it with that kind of thing first, and the sheet says the row's own sentence under its title. The sheet has an address of its own, so the browser's Back button closes it and a reload opens it again where it was. See Needs You.
Where a row says sessions, Home uses your business's own word, such as lessons, appointments or visits.
Nothing on Home charges a customer, sends an email or moves money by itself. Each of those goes through the Needs you sheet, one item at a time, and asks first. A team member whose role cannot open where a button leads sees the words alone.
With nothing waiting, the section says All clear. and "Bizzly puts anything that needs a decision here." If the section cannot be checked it says Could not check what needs you. with a Retry button, and if only some kinds could not be checked it says Some things could not be checked. under the rows.
Do Something
Do something is a row of buttons for what you most often come to do. You see only the ones your role may use:
- New booking opens the form that adds a booking.
- Add a service and Add a programme open the three steps that add one on What you sell: What, When and where and Price and rules. Each wears its own mark: a tag for the first and a tent for the second. The buttons use your business's own words. A kids club sees Add a session and Add a camp, a music teacher Add a lesson and Add a programme, a beauty business Add a treatment and Add a programme, and a tutor Add a service and Add a course.
- Share your page opens a sheet with your website's address and the ways to pass it on: Copy the link and Open your page for the address, a QR code with Save the picture for a poster or a flyer, a ready message with Send it on WhatsApp and Copy the message, and a line for your Instagram bio with Copy the line. Copying says Link copied, Message copied or Line copied. If your browser will not copy, the message says Could not copy the link, message or line and tells you to select the text and copy it yourself; each one is shown on the sheet to select. A page with no address yet says Your page has no address yet, with a way for an administrator to set one. Nothing is sent for you and nothing is recorded. Team members with a limited role do not see it.
- Ask or tell Bizzly opens it, for administrators. See Ask or Tell Bizzly.
A role that may use none of these does not see the section.
Today
The Today section lists what is on today, with what it holds beside the heading, such as 3 sessions or 3 sessions and 1 appointment, and, while any session that has not started says how many places it has, the places still free in those sessions, such as 3 sessions · 12 places left. Open the week at its right opens the week view of your sessions.
- Today's sessions are rows on a timeline. Each shows the start time with the end time under it, the name of the session with where it runs under that, and how many places are taken, for example "3 of 12 booked, 9 free", with a thin bar. The session that is running says Now beside a small green dot, and the first one still to come says Next. A session whose booking has no matching event left on your calendar shows Not on the calendar. Press a row to open that session beside the list, where you take the register. A press that means a new tab or window, such as holding Ctrl or Cmd, opens the session's own screen instead.
- Sessions that have already run fold into one line at the foot, such as 2 sessions ran earlier today. Once every session has run, the section is that line alone, such as 3 sessions ran today.
- Today's appointments follow, each showing the time and the service. Press a row to open the day.
With nothing on, the section says No sessions today.
If Google has disconnected, it says Google Calendar needs reconnecting before today's sessions can load. and offers administrators Reconnect Google Calendar. Press it, sign in to Google, and you come back to Home with a message that says Google Calendar reconnected. A limited role sees the sentence with no button. If the sessions simply could not be loaded, it says Today's sessions could not be loaded. with a Retry button. A role that may not see sessions does not see the section.
For taking the register, see Taking the Session Register.
If Nobody Has Booked Yet
Once your business can take bookings but has never had one, the Today section is replaced by a card headed Nothing booked yet. It begins "Send your link to one customer." and its Share your page button, the same one Do something offers, opens the same sheet. Team members with a limited role see the card without the button. A quiet day at an established business does not bring this card back: it appears only when there has never been a booking.
If Your Site Is a Landing Page
A landing page takes enquiries, not bookings, so Home is shorter for it. There is no Ready to take bookings when card and no Today section, because there are no sessions to show.
- Until the page is published, an administrator sees a card headed Your page is not published yet. It says "Publish it, and people can find it and send you enquiries." Continue setup takes you to the furthest step of the setup you have reached.
- Once it is published, a card takes Today's place. It says No enquiries yet. with "Send your link to one person. We'll tell you the moment they get in touch." When the page's form has taken some this week, it says how many instead, such as 3 enquiries this week. with "Share your page to bring in more." Its Share your page button is the same as the one in Do something.
Needs you, Do something and This week are as for any business.
This Week
This week shows figures for the week, with its dates beside the heading, such as Mon 12 to Sun 18 Oct.
- Paid to you is what your customers paid in the week. Under it, a line says Paid by your customers, or Paid by your customers, after refunds when anything was refunded. If you run more than one website, it adds Across all your sites. The last line says what the week before took, such as Last week £1,860.00, or Last week nothing.
- Refunded is what you gave back in the week, with the line Given back this week. It appears only in a week when something was refunded.
Open Money, at the right of the heading, opens Money. It is there while the money figure is. The places still free today are in the Today heading, not here.
The first figure is the total of what your customers paid. Stripe's fees are not taken off, and it does not say when the money reaches your bank. It is left out until Stripe is connected, and for roles that may not see money. A figure Bizzly cannot work out is left out, and if nothing is left the section is not drawn. If the money could not be read, the section says This week's money could not be loaded. with a Retry button.
If You Have Not Chosen a Plan Yet
If you have signed up but not yet chosen a plan, Home shows a single card headed Choose a plan to start your free trial, in place of the sections above. It explains that every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and that choosing one lets you build your website, take bookings and get paid. Press Choose a plan to open the plan sheet, which has a See the plans row that takes you to the Pricing page. There is no New button until you have a plan.
See Create Your Account & Choose a Plan.
If Your Role Cannot Open Home
A team member whose role does not include Home is taken to the first screen their role can open when they sign in. If their role can open no screen at all, Home says Your role does not include Today.
If Something Cannot Load
If Home as a whole cannot be read, a message says so, for example Today could not be loaded. (or Today could not be refreshed. if you already had it on screen), with a Retry button. If a single section cannot be read, only that section says so. For example, This week's money could not be loaded.
Home reads itself again after a change made through Ask or tell Bizzly, and after you deal with something in Needs you, so you do not need to press Refresh today.
