You don't have to pay for things one at a time. A season of classes, the joining fee and a club hoodie can all go into one basket and be paid for together in a single checkout.
Where to Find This
The basket lives on the business's own website. Once you've put something in it, a round basket button appears in the bottom-right corner of the page with a number on it showing how many items you have. Tap it and Your basket slides in from the right.
While the basket is empty the button isn't shown at all — it appears as soon as you add your first item, on whichever page you're on.
What Can Go In
Three kinds of thing share the same basket:
- Classes and session packs — a season of weekly classes, a camp, or a single day of one, for a named child, pet or student where the business books that way.
- Memberships, joining fees and one-off purchases — anything sold from a pricing card.
- Shop items — merchandise from the business's store, with a quantity you choose.
You can hold up to 50 separate lines in one basket.
Adding a Class or Session Pack
Open the pack the way you normally would — from the highlighted bar on the booking page, from a pricing card, or by clicking a session in the calendar. Choose who it's for, the sessions and the start date as usual (see Booking a Session Pack).
At the bottom of that window you get two buttons:
- Book — £X pays for this one thing now (on a season sold as an ongoing subscription it reads Subscribe — £30.00/month instead), and
- Add to basket puts it aside so you can carry on shopping.
Add to basket only appears once the price has been worked out — that is, after you've chosen who it's for, which sessions, and (on a camp sold by the day) which day. Those choices are part of the basket line, which is why the button lives inside the booking window rather than on the card outside it.
Each basket line names the pack, who it's for, and the location, day and number of sessions — for example "For Ella" and "Riverside Hall · Saturday 09:00 · 8 sessions". The same pack for a second child is a separate line; the same child on the same sessions can't be added twice.
Nothing is reserved while an item sits in your basket. Your places are held at the moment you press Checkout, so if a class is filling up it's worth checking out promptly.
Adding a Membership, Fee or One-Off Purchase
On a pricing card you'll usually see two buttons: the normal one (Buy Now on a one-off, Choose [plan name] or a free-trial invitation on a membership, or whatever the business has renamed it) and Add to basket underneath it. Some businesses show only one of the two — that's their choice.
What happens when you tap Add to basket depends on what's being sold:
- 1
Something bought for one person, pet or vehicle
You're asked "Who is this for?" — pick from the chips shown, or tap + Add [child / pet / …] to add someone new. Then press Add to basket to confirm. The basket line then reads "For [name]".
- 2
Something that belongs to the whole account
A joining fee, registration fee or family membership isn't for one person, so you're not asked who it's for — it goes straight into the basket, marked Once per family.
- 3
A season pack or camp sold from a card
The card shows a single Enrol button. Tapping it opens the booking window described above, and you add to the basket from there once you've picked the sessions.
The button briefly changes to Added to basket ✓ so you know it worked.
If someone in your family has already used up what they're allowed of a limited item, their chip in the "Who is this for?" chooser is greyed out and reads — already used. If a once-per-family item has already been paid for, the card's button reads Already paid — once per family and can't be clicked.
Adding Shop Items
In the shop, choose any options, set a quantity and click Add to cart — those items land in the same basket as everything else. Quantities can be changed later from the basket; classes, memberships and fees are always one each.
The Joining Fee That Adds Itself
If the business charges a once-per-family joining or registration fee and you haven't paid it yet, it's added to your basket automatically the first time you add something that counts as joining — as long as you're signed in, since the fee is recorded against your account (sign in and add the item again and it appears) — so you don't have to hunt for it. The line is clearly marked Once per family, followed by a note saying it was added for you — Added for new families on a club that books for children, Added for new households for pet care, and so on, in the business's own words.
You can remove it with the bin icon like any other line. Once you do, it won't be added again for the rest of your visit.
Anything the business sells counts as joining — a session pack or season, a camp, a single day, a membership, a one-off purchase. Shop items don't: a basket with nothing but a hoodie in it never picks up a fee.
Businesses can exempt particular products from this — a taster session, for instance, usually doesn't trigger the joining fee. It then arrives with your first ordinary purchase instead.
If you don't use the basket
The fee finds you either way. Buying in one hop — Buy Now on a card, Subscribe on a membership, booking a pack from the booking window, or taking a place offered from a waitlist — shows the joining fee as a second line on the secure payment page, so you can see it before you pay. On a monthly membership it's charged with your first payment, and your ongoing amount is unaffected.
Wherever it appears, it's the same single fee: once it's paid it is never asked for again, on any route.
Reviewing Your Basket
Open the basket button to see everything you've added. Each line shows its name, price, and the detail that identifies it — who a class is for and which sessions, an item's size or colour, or Once per family on a fee.
- Change a shop quantity with the dropdown beside it (1–99). Set it to a smaller number, or use the bin icon to remove the line entirely.
- Remove anything with the red bin icon on its right.
- Subtotal at the bottom adds everything up.
If your basket contains something that needs delivering, a short note says "Shipping is chosen at checkout."
If your basket contains a subscription
Only one subscription can be bought at a time. When your basket holds one, the total is labelled Due today rather than Subtotal, because that first payment includes everything else in the basket, and a line underneath says what happens next — for example "then £30.00/month until you cancel". The delivery note changes to "Delivery is added at checkout."
If you try to add a second subscription, nothing is added and you'll see "Your basket already has a subscription — check it out first, then add this one."
Signing In
Shop items can be bought as a guest. Classes, memberships and fees are recorded against your account, so those need you to be signed in. If your basket contains one and you aren't, the bottom of the basket reads:
Classes and membership are booked to your account — sign in to check out. Your basket is saved.
with a Sign in to check out button. Your basket is kept while you sign in, and you're brought back to the page you were on rather than to the home page.
Checking Out
Press Checkout. The button reads Redirecting… while your places are held and a secure payment page is prepared, then you're taken to it to pay.
- Payment goes through — you're returned to the site, the basket empties and a green Order confirmed! message appears: "Thanks — a receipt has been emailed to you."
- You back out without paying — your basket is left exactly as it was, so you can pick up where you left off. Nothing is charged and no places are held.
What Arrives by Email
When your basket contains a class, a membership, a credit pack or a fee, you get one email for the whole basket, headed "Your order is confirmed", listing every item with its own price, a total, and — line by line — what it means for you:
- A class or pack: "Enrolled — all 8 sessions are booked for you. Nothing else to do." (or how many are booked so far, if some are still being confirmed).
- A membership: "Membership active — £30.00 per month until you cancel."
- A credit product: "2 booking credits added to your account — book any time from our booking calendar."
- A joining fee: "Family registration recorded — nothing more to do."
- A shop item: "Your order confirmation with shipping details is on its way separately." — deliveries are confirmed in their own email, and the order also appears in Your Orders.
If something in the basket couldn't be fulfilled — a class filled up between paying and booking, say — it is refunded automatically and the email says so on that line: "This couldn't be fulfilled, so we've refunded it — the money is on its way back to your card." Everything else still goes ahead.
Bought only shop items? There's no separate basket email — you get the usual store order confirmation ("Order confirmed", with your order number, items, shipping and total), exactly as you always have.
Buying a single thing on its own — pressing Book or Buy Now instead of using the basket — still sends the confirmation for that one purchase: an enrolment email for classes ("You're enrolled — …", listing your sessions, venue and first date) or a credit email for a credit pack.
If Something Can't Be Bought
Occasionally the checkout has to refuse a basket. The message tells you which problem it is and what to do:
- "Not enough stock for one of your items — please adjust the quantity."
- "An item in your basket is no longer available — please remove it."
- "One of the classes in your basket has just filled up — please remove it and try again."
- "Something in your basket has already been bought — please remove it and try again." — for example a once-per-family fee that's already been paid.
- "This membership is already active for this member — manage it from your account."
- "Only one subscription can be bought at a time — check this one out, then add the next."
- "That's too many items to buy with a subscription in one go — please check out in two baskets."
Nothing is charged when a basket is refused, and any places held while it was being checked are released again.
Tips
- Your basket is kept in this browser. Come back later on the same device and it's still there; a different device or browser starts empty.
- Add the whole family in one go — the same pack for each child is a separate line, so you can pay for everyone at once.
- Buying just one thing? The normal Book / Buy Now button is still the quickest route — the basket is for combining purchases.
