Make your website visible in search results by enabling search engine indexing.
Where to Find This
Navigate to Services → Website → SEO Settings. The SEO Indexing sub-tab opens by default, so you don't need to click anything to reach it.
What Is Indexing?
Indexing allows search engines like Google to find and display your website in search results.
- Enabled: Your site can appear in search results, making it easier for customers to find you.
- Disabled: Your site won't appear in search results; only those with a direct link can access it.
Requirements
Before enabling indexing, ensure you meet these requirements:
The Enable SEO Indexing switch stays greyed out until all of these are met.
Steps to Enable Indexing
1. Open SEO Settings
Go to Services → Website → SEO Settings. You'll land on the SEO Indexing sub-tab.
2. Review Requirements
Under Requirements you'll see three lines, each with a tick or a cross:
- Your page count, shown as "2 / 3 pages minimum"
- Your plan, shown by name once it's an active paid one
- Complete business info (phone, email, type, service areas) — a single line covering all four, which lists exactly what's still missing when something is
3. Complete Any Missing Requirements
If you see a cross:
-
Need more pages?
Go to Services → Website → Website Editor and create additional pages. -
Need business info?
Open the Business Information sub-tab (in the same SEO Settings screen) and fill in the missing fields. -
Need a service area?
Add at least one area in the Service Areas section of the Business Information sub-tab.
4. Enable Indexing
Once every requirement shows a tick, switch Enable SEO Indexing to ON.
The switch saves on its own the moment you flip it — you'll see a confirmation message and the banner change to "SEO indexing is enabled". You do not need to click Save Changes; that button saves your business details, not this switch.
What Happens Next?
After enabling indexing:
- Crawlers are let in: Your site stops telling search engines to stay away and starts pointing them at your sitemap instead.
- Google discovers you: This happens on Google's own schedule and can take days to weeks.
- You start appearing: Gradually, your site shows up in relevant searches.
Nothing gets sent to Google when you flip the switch — search engines find the change themselves the next time they visit your site. SEO is a gradual process, and it may take weeks or months to see significant results.
Checking Your Status
In the SEO Indexing sub-tab, you can see:
- Whether indexing is currently on or off
- The date indexing was enabled
- Your current plan
- Any unmet requirements
Disabling Indexing
To hide your site from search engines:
- Go to Services → Website → SEO Settings → SEO Indexing sub-tab.
- Switch Enable SEO Indexing to OFF.
The change saves immediately, and your site goes back to asking search engines not to list it.
Note: It may take time for search engines to remove your site from results after disabling.
